MIRSAD TURKCAN(1999-2000):

Background:

Mirsad Türkcan (Serbian, Mirsad Turkcan) (born June 7, 1976, in Novi Pazar, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Turkish professional basketball player. Born Mirsad Jahovic to Bosniak parents in the former Yugoslavia, he changed his family name to Türkcan when he moved to play basketball in Turkey. At the same time, he also obtained Turkish citizenship and started playing international basketball for Turkey. At 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m)and 224 lb (102 kg)- at the height of small forward, Türkcan plays power forward.

Accomblishments/NBA Life:

After playing for Turkey's top team-Efes Pilsen, he was drafted 1st round 18th pick by Houston Rockets in 1998 NBA Draft and later traded to Philadelphia 76ers. After not having many roles, he decided to go back to Turkey. Mirsad Turkcan broke a record for most rebounds in Euroleague(1000 career), he said he would like to make it to 1907(the date his current team was established).

** AA HIDAYET "HEDO" TURKOGLU(2000-present):

    Background:

Hidayet Türkoglu, sometimes referred to as Hedo Türkoglu (born March 19, 1979, in Gaziosmanpasa, Istanbul, Turkey), is a Turkish professional basketball player, and the first Turkish-born player in NBA history. Turkoglu also played for Efes Pilsen before coming to the NBA. He stands 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) tall and plays the small forward position. He is a solid shooter inside and outside the three point line. He is a versatile player who has played four positions from point guard to power forward during his career. Unlike Turkcan, Turkoglu ended up being much more succesful than Turkcan, entering his seventh year in NBA. Turkoglu was drafted 1st round,16th pick by Sacramento Kings, he played three years for Sacremento Kings as a backup player. He then played for San Antonio Spurs for a year before signing with Orlan

do Magic where he currently plays.

   

Accomblishments/NBA Life:

In Orlando Magic he started as a backup for a great Small Forward Grant Hill. After many improvements, Orlando Magic decided they should not re-sign Grant Hill, except Turkoglu should start at Small Forward, and they should get a better player for another position. Hidayet "Hedo" Turkoglu now is ranked 2nd place in scoring(Avraging 19.5 points per game), 2nd place in rebonding( averaging 6.20 per game) and 2nd place in assits(avraging 4.1 per game) for his team. He is also a good three-point shooter. Hedo Turkoglu has improved a lot since he made it to the NBA, coming from a bench player to starting player. He is now one of the good/best small forwards in the league, this year he was also putten to All Star ballot 2008, to get a chance to be a 2008 NBA All Star Player(in which he is one of the leaders in votes). Hidayet "Hedo" Turkoglu was a finalist for "Sixth Man of the Year" award in 2004.
